It was with baited breath we waited for the new vintage 2019 Burgundy wines to hit our shores, and like…
Pascal Marchand and Jeff Burch Tour Australia
Last month we were privileged to have one of Burgundy’s most esteemed winemakers, Pascal Marchand, tour Australia to celebrate 10 vintages of Marchand & Burch wines; his joint venture with our very own Jeff Burch.
The celebration of the 10 year anniversary of our premium wine label, Marchand & Burch, was a great milestone that the Burch Family are incredibly proud of. It signified a decade of hard work, passion and dedication to the brand.
The evolution of the Marchand & Burch wine range is a unique and fascinating sub-plot in the evolution of contemporary Australian wine. It is combination of Pascal’s Burgundian, biodynamic experience and passion for the traditional techniques with Jeff’s fruit sourcing knowledge within Western Australia, specifically, the Great Southern.
To celebrate this fantastic milestone, the pair commenced their anniversary tour in Sydney, incorporating a combination of wine dinners, masterclasses and tastings. Following on from Sydney they paid a visit to Melbourne where they were joined by some of our very dedicated Wine Club members at wine dinner in one of Melbourne’s finest restaurants, ‘Matteos’.
A Marchand & Burch Wine Club member had only positive things to say about the event,
“Thanks so much for organising last night. We were delighted with Jeff and Pascal’s thoughts on their wonderful wine. Matteo’s was perfect”.
Saying farewell to Melbourne, Pascal and Jeff made their homeward journey to the Howard Park Winery in Margaret River, where the Marchand & Burch Australian Collection is produced. Here they were joined by Winemaker Janice McDonald and together the three discussed some exciting new prospects for the future of Marchand & Burch.
The Australian tour wrapped up with a fantastic sold out event in Perth. The pair were joined by over 90 enthusiastic Marchand & Burch Wine Club Members, and guests were treated with a sneak preview of Pascal’s latest documentary “Grand Cru’ by Canadian film maker David Eng before sitting down to enjoy a beautiful four course dinner served by the Heritage Wine Bar.
Jeff Burch had these parting words to say to the Wine Club members in attendance,
“With 10 years down, we are excited to see how Marchand & Burch will continue to evolve in the future. Pascal, Janice and I all bring different elements to the table during the wine-making process . We are extremely passionate about it and we will continue on our quest to showcase WA’s Great Southern potential to produce wine varieties that turn heads.”
